70th Anniversary of North Korea: Russia’s Vladimir Putin Sends a Message to Kim Jong-un

Federation Council President Valentina Matvienko, who begins her visit to North Korea this Friday, will be in charge of sending a message from the Russian head of state to Kim Jong-un.

Vladimir Putin sent a message to  Kim Jong-un  through Federation Council President  Valentina Matvienko , who is visiting North Korea on Friday.

“Russian President Vladimir Putin has instructed me to convey his message to the State Council of the DPRK,” she told Sputnik. The contents of the letter sent by the Russian President were not mentioned.


Valentina Matvienko added that the Russian delegation will hold a series of meetings with her counterparts in North Korea as part of this visit, made at the invitation of the Supreme People’s Assembly of North Korea. MPs will also take part in events marking the 70th anniversary of North Korea.

The country’s birthday, one of its most important holidays, comes this year as talks on the denuclearization of North Korea are under way with the South and the United States.
