6-metre Nelson Mandela Statue Erected in Palestine

A six-meter high statue of the late South African leader, Nelson Mandela, has been unveiled in the Palestinian city of Ramallah.

The City of Johannesburg commissioned and donated a 6-metre Nelson Mandela bronze sculpture to the people of Palestine.


The sculpture will erected in the city of Ramallah, and also has actually been hailed by the mayor of the city as carrying a symbolic significance since he was an international symbol of peace and a torch to people striving for freedom and liberty.

The sculpture is believed to have been designed by Dali Tambo ‚ the son of struggle icon Oliver Tambo‚ who was also involved with conceptualising the Madiba statue at the Union Buildings‚ Pretoria.
