Forbes recently published a list of the top 15 richest self-made female celebrities, and Black women dominated the list. According to the outlet, Beyoncé has a reported new net worth of $540 million, $90 million more than last year.

 

Shonda Rhimes with a fortune estimated to be $250 million, everyone’s favorite who’s written critically praised ABC dramas like Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal, as well as Netflix series like Bridgerton and Inventing Anna, has joined the list. The critically acclaimed Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story is also a fan favorite.

 

Oprah Winfrey made the list as well (duh), with a reported net worth of $2.5 billion and rising. As previously documented, she became one of the first Black woman to buy approximately 1000 acres of land on Maui, adding to her large portfolio of real estate interests.

 

Rihanna also made the list because to her $1.4 billion fortune, which she largely owes to her Fenty Cosmetics business. In February, the singer returned to her showbiz roots with a starring Super Bowl halftime show that drew 121 million viewers, making it one of the most watched in history.

 

Serena Williams, a tennis legend turned prodigious investor and businesswoman, made the list with a reported net worth of $290 million.

 

$95 million came from her winning money, with the remainder coming from her endorsements, production company, and investments.
