At a ceremony held Tuesday, July 11, in the presence of the Ivorian Minister of Transport, Amadou Koné, Gilles Dariau, the director general of the international airport of Abidjan, Abidjan on behalf of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
An objective that has been pursued since September 2014, through the implementation of the compliance process of the Félix Houphouët-Boigny airport with international standards. This project was rewarded on Tuesday, July 11, with a handing over of the certification of the international civil aviation organization to the general manager of Abidjan International Airport, Gilles Dariau. Present at the ceremony, the Ivorian Minister of Transport, Adama Koné announced that the discussions are very advanced to ensure the flights between Cote d’Ivoire and the United States.
Sinaly Silué, Director General of the National Civil Aviation Authority (ANAC) took the opportunity to pay tribute to the performance of Abidjan airport and its chief environmental safety officer. “With the support of the State, in 2015 we successfully obtained the American certification of the Félix Houphouët-Boigny international airport, which allows direct flights to the United States from Abidjan. This support enables us to bring the Abidjan airport into compliance with the requirements of the International Civil Aviation Organization through a certification that has taken into account all applicable standards. These successes are the result of a real change in our civil aviation. It was necessary to create a healthy working environment,
To achieve this certification, twelve presidential decrees, nineteen ministerial decrees and one hundred and eighty-nine regulations and procedures have been signed, as well as nine international treaties and conventions have been ratified.
