Led by Transport Cabinet Secretary James Macharia and Murang’a County Commissioner John Elungata President Kenyatta’s delegation delivered the good news to the young man.

CS Macharia said that John showed remarkable resilience in serving his nation being a great example to the youth to serve their country. He added that youth agenda is key in President Uhuru Kenyatta’s leadership, and he has committed to economic empowerment of the youth by expanding youth in national development and guarantee 30 per cent of all appointments, projects and budgets.

“I was forced to drop out of school to go for further treatment outside the country through a well-wisher,” he says.

Despite his condition, Macharia sat for his KCPE exams in 2012 and managed to get 375 marks out of possible 500.

He failed to join secondary school due to fees challenges and lives with his physically disabled friend in a single rented house.

He says he never believed that a young man like me with no arms could be noticed by the most powerful person in Kenya.

“I sincerely thank him for this gesture and promise to utilise the funds prudently,” said the exited Macharia.

Macharia says he will use the funds given to establish a beauty parlour and a cyber café.
