The executive governor of Minnesota state of America, Governor Mark Dayton, has proclaimed Monday, May 23rd, 2016, as ‘Beyoncé Day’ because of the 34-year-old Houston singer’s influence on ‘many young girls and women with powerful, positive messages in her songs’ as well as her success in the music industry.
‘Beyoncé’s impact and success has been widely-recognized,’ a press release from Dayton’s office stated.
The declaration of Bey Day comes just before her Formation World Tour performance scheduled at the TCF Bank Stadium at 7pm.
The singer first performed in Minnesota during the ‘Verizon Ladies First Tour’ in 2004. She returned in 2009 as part of her ‘I Am… World Tour’, and most recently performed in the state in 2013, during the ‘Mrs Carter Show World Tour.’
