So, when are we at our most fabulous? According to new research from British financial services company More Th>N, women reach their peak style at age 30.
To reach that conclusion, More Th>N surveyed 2,000 men and women, asking them various style-related questions. Among other things, they discovered that 30-year-old women own 212 “style items” on average, which are worth almost $11,000.
Those “style items” include 166 pieces of clothing (including seven high-fashion outfits), 24 pieces of jewelry, and seven pairs of designer shoes.
Apparently we hit the fashion icon phase of life before dudes do: The survey found they don’t reach their peak style until age 36. However, it’s worth pointing out that the findings say men have a more expensive wardrobe (worth nearly $13,000) and own more clothes than we do at this point in their lives—just a little something to keep in mind next time your guy complains that you have too many clothes.
Unfortunately, it’s all downhill from there, fashion-wise. The survey found that people start spending less money on clothes and their “style confidence” decreases after those ages. That, or they just don’t care as much anymore.
