Nigeria U23 team finally depart from Atlanta, United States to Manaus less than 14 hours to their opening Rio 2016 Olympics encounter against Japan.
The stranded Dream Team VI are now scheduled to arrive Manaus, Brazil, seven hours before the game, hence worries of jet-lagged players is overwhelming Nigerians fearing doubts of any chance in their Olympics men’s football event opener.
However, history may have proved otherwise as the Atlanta Airport, had recalled that the team 20 years ago arrived late to Atlanta for the 1996 Olympics games after a flight delay, but still nicked gold in the men’s football event.
“20 years ago, the Nigerian #Olympic soccer team arrived late in #ATL after a travel mixup. They won gold,” it tweeted. “This year, another mixup. @Delta stepped up, offered charter, and the Eagles are going to #Brazil. Another gold?”
