Comment on winning the 2015 African Player of the Year

Of course I’m emotional. It is a really big achievement to win this award.

When you have contenders like Yaya Toure and Andre Ayew, it’s even a bigger achievement to win the award because they are great players. I really admire them.

I’m so happy. I’m not usually someone who cries but it’s quite and emotional moment.

Retaining the African Player of the Year title

I have the skills and the talent to make it again next year but it will take hard work. I will need to work hard to be able to remain the best African footballer next year.

We have many top African football players around the world and it’s such a big challenge but I hope to be back next year.

  1. You deserve the award. Congrats Aubameyang. From how the coaches and technical directors rely so heavily on European soccer competitions to make their choice, you are definitely the winner. Yaya Toure and Dede Ayew can cry all they want but it’s the same criteria that saw Toure and E’too win 4 times. The CAF African Player of the year award is all about European football. Maybe there should be another award for African football, then all blame and cry will stop the coaches and their technical directors cast their votes.
