16 Players With African Root In The Euro 2016 Final (Where they’re From)

When France meet Portugal in the 2016 European Championship final as many as 16 stars with African heritage, who snubbed playing for the African countries, will be involved. Click through the gallery to find out who they are!

It’s incredible to think that more than one third of the 46 players in both squads have connections to Africa, one way or the other, and could have featured for African countries instead of Portugal or France.

Ten of the Euro finalists with African descent are part of French’s squad that eliminated Germany in the semi-final, while six are featuring alongside Cristiano Ronaldo in Portugal’s squad.
