Ahmad Ahmad from Madagascar is the sixth person to occupy the hot seat of CAF Presidency after he beat off competition from incumbent Issa Hayatou by polling 34 votes as against 20 on Thursday in the Ethiopian capital city, Addis Ababa.

The first President of the Confederation of African Football was Abdel Aziz Abdallah Salem from Egypt. He led the organisation for a one-year period

Abdel Halim Muhammad (1968-1972)
Yidnekatchew Tessema (1972-1987)
He was a footballer and pioneer of modern sports organizations in Ethiopia. Tessema was elected to power in 1972 and led Confederation of African Football (CAF) until his death in 1987. He is the second longest serving president in the anal of CAF.
Issa Hayatou (1988-2017)
Is a Cameroonian former athlete and sports executive. He served as the acting FIFA president until 26 February 2016 as the previous president, Sepp Blatter, was banned from all football-related activities in 2015 as a part of the FIFA corruption investigation of 2015. He was the president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) between 1988 and 2017.
He is Malagasy football administrator(currently in his third period of office). He was a politician back home after being both a football player and coach in his younger days. Since 2003, he is the president of Malagasy Football Federation. On 16th March, 2017, he beat off competition from incumbent Issa Hayatou to become the new President of the Confederation of African Football.
