The United States will not dare to hit North Korea because they know that Pyongyang has the nuclear bomb, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
As the exchange of threats between Donald Trump and Kim Jong-un takes a more violent turn, causing fear of a possible nuclear conflict, the Russian Foreign Minister says that Washington will not hit Pyongyang.
“The Americans will not hit North Korea because they do not doubt but know that it has the nuclear bomb,” Sergey Lavrov said in an interview with Russia’s NTV.
For his part, he believes that the situation does not resemble, even at a distance, that of Iraq.
“The Americans hit Iraq only because they had 100% reliable information that there was no weapons of mass destruction left there,” he said.
Nevertheless, if Washington does not take this analysis into account, the situation could, according to the head of Russian diplomacy, “take an unpredictable turn”.
“If this scenario happens, dozens or even hundreds of innocent people will suffer in South Korea and even in North Korea, Japan, Russia and China who are nearby, he said before concluding that this torrent of reciprocal threats between Washington and Pyongyang can only be stopped by “gentleness, remonstrance and persuasion”.
